What time of day has the best visibility for tours?
Welcome to Orange Beach, Gulf Shores & Perdido! We enjoy beautiful weather mornings, afternoons, and evenings. So the real question is, “When do you want to fly?” We would say that between 11am and 2pm when the sun is at its highest would typically give you the best visibility. Of course, we do keep our eye constantly on the weather reports to make sure your helicopter flight is the best possible experience.
How do we pay?
We get asked this a lot. You can pay by cash or card and we don't ask for money until you arrive and are ready to go fly. We require a $50 deposit for some online bookings. If you're paying by card we'll do a pre-approval before flying and then close it out when you land! It's simpler this way and means that if we have to cancel for any reason you won't pay for anything. Booking us is easy and so is cancelling, all we ask is you give us as much notice as possible in the event you do cancel.
Is photography allowed?
Not only is photography allowed, it’s encouraged! You’ll see Orange Beach, Gulf Shores & Perdido like you’ve never seen it before, so snap plenty of pictures!
How many seats are in the helicopter?
Our helicopter carries 3 people plus the pilot. If you have more we're able to discuss with you other options so that everyone gets to fly. If there is 4 of you, what we can do is make two trips and change out the one person so two people get to fly twice if they like. This is especially popular with parents that have two kids, this way each parent gets to fly with their children.
What clothing should I wear?
The temperature aboard the helicopter is very comfortable during flights so shirts and shorts are just fine, we also have AC. However, if you choose a doors-off tour, your flight will be windy and cooler so jackets and sweatshirts are sometimes required and long pants are recommended depending on the time of year. Please note that hats are not allowed on board your flight. Your hat might blow off your head and fly up into the rotors and that is very unsafe. You may leave any hats in the office during our flight.
Is it guaranteed that I will see everything listed on the tour?
We try to fly over every landmark listed on your selected tour. However, flying in a helicopter is not as simple as watching a movie. Once in a while we have to contend with, other aircraft flying around, kites and other airborne hazards, strong winds or other weather that may prevent us from taking our normal route. We will do our best to cover the listed landmarks as well as accommodate any requests that you may have. We're also under the control of the airspace owners and have to adhere to any and all requests they make regarding our route.
I get motion sickness frequently. Should I take medicine before the flight?
Our flights are very smooth; this is not a theme park ride! So many people who presume they may have an issue feel just fine during the tour. However, if you are prone to motion sickness you might want to take a motion sickness pill just as a precaution. We want you to enjoy your flight!
Are young children allowed on flights?
Yes we fly children of all ages, children 24 months and under are allowed to sit on the lap of an adult and fly for free, as long as there are at least two seats paid for. We even have baby headsets for them to wear. Please be aware that the FAA regulations require a full-fare seat for children over 24 months. As mentioned children 24 months and under are welcome to sit on the lap of a responsible adult at no charge.
Can I book your helicopter for private charters?
Hang Ten Helicopters isn't able to offer private charters at this time, it is something we are working on and hope to have in the near future.
How experienced are your pilots?
We employ some of the most skilled pilots and hold them to the highest standards. Our pilots are very experienced in their knowledge of Florida skies, climates, and terrain. Their abilities will put you at ease as you fly over the cities, beaches and sights on the coast.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancelling is easy, all we require is 24hrs notice before your appointment so that we can plan and adjust accordingly.
No show deposits are non-refundable. Because we would have to have staff there waiting for you, if you don't show we still have to pay them to be there.
Deposits are refundable in case of weather and aircraft maintenance.
